Prayers for my daughters...

First and foremost, I pray that you would come to know the God who created you and trust him as your only hope of salvation. It is God's desire for you to be saved (Rom. 10:1). I pray that God would open your eyes at an early age to the truth of the gospel. Lord help our children to turn from darkness to light and receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in God (Acts 26:18).

I pray against the schemes of the enemy toward you and claim in the name of Jesus that your minds would not be blinded by the god of this world but you would see and embrace the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God (2 Cor. 4:4). I pray that your minds would be renewed by the power of the gospel of Jesus and that you would not set your minds on fleshly things, but rather submit them to God (Rom. 8:7).

I pray that, like Jesus, you would grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man. I pray you would not fear men, which is a snare, but rather, trust the Lord and be kept safe (Prov. 29:25).

I pray in agreement with Psalm 91:10-11 and ask the Lord that no evil will befall you, nor any plague come near your physical dwelling, but that God would give angels charge concerning you and guard you in all of your ways.

Daughters, delight in God above all else. Let the pleasures and lures of this world have no hold on your hearts. I pray you would have hearts undivided for God, and remain pure in a world where purity is laughed at and mocked.

I pray you would be pure in speech: Let the words of their mouths and the meditations of their hearts be pleasing to you, O Lord (Psalm 19:14).

Pure in deed: Lord help them to keep their way pure by guarding it according to your word (Psalm 119:9).

Pure in heart: Help them to turn, see, and know the one true God (Matt. 5:8).

It is my prayer that you would set an example for other believers in your speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity according to God's word (1 Tim. 4:12).

Lord keep our children physically pure as they grow up in a sex-crazed world. Help them to flee from sexual immorality, for unlike other sins committed outside of the body, it is a sin against their own bodies (1 Cor. 6:18). Help them as they grow, to learn to control their bodies in holiness and honor rather than in passion and lust (1 Thess. 4:3-5). Help them not to awaken sexual love before the proper time, but to save it to be enjoyed within a marriage ordained by God (Song of Solomon 8:4). Help them to find godly mates who would love them like Christ loved the church and gave himself up for it, rather than men who would use them, belittle them, betray them, or devalue them (Eph. 5:25).  Let them understand the price you paid through the death of Jesus in order to make them holy before God, and to regard their bodies as set apart to you.

Daughters, I pray that you would develop a love for God's word at an early age, and that you would see God's word as more valuable than gold, or any other earthly prize. I pray you would have obedient hearts and that God's word would give you understanding and light for your paths (Psalm 119:127-130).

I pray you would be generous toward others, viewing them as more important than yourselves, and reach out in love to those around you. I pray you would learn to be a good friend, and to value the thoughts and feelings of others. Lord help their love for others and their giving up of their own rights or desires in order to serve those around them be a beautiful reflection of the gospel (John 15:13-14).

I pray that you would learn to respect authority, starting within the home. Lord, help our children to submit to the authority you have given us as their parents as well as other authority figures in their lives, and help them to learn to see it all as ultimately submitting unto you.

There are many other prayers I have for you, daughters, but these are a few of the things on my heart for you now.

Lord, I acknowledge with humility that you have placed these children in my care according to your will and your purposes. It is my great privilege to bring them before your throne in prayer. I know prayer is the greatest battle I could ever do on their behalf. Help me not to disregard the importance of prayer for my children. I also know they will learn the most by what they see and experience in our home. Let our home be a reflection of you. Though not perfect in and of ourselves, let us, as parents, show our girls the right way to live by submitting our wills, our flesh, our hearts, and our bodies unto you. Let us seek forgiveness in honest confession when we make mistakes. Let us teach our children about the amazing grace we have received through your unconditional love and forgiveness toward us. Let us show them what it looks like to seek first the kingdom of God as we walk through this life. Help us to allow your Holy Spirit to move in us in order to move in our family. Let our home, be a reflection of Christ to our children, and also to the world around us. Thank you that you do not give up on us. Help us to not give up on each other. Let it all be for the glory of God that you do all of this in our lives according to your word. Let your word not return to you void on our behalf.
