No Matter What

Ivey, you and I had this conversation today:

"Mommy, if I hit or push, and get in trouble…you'll forgive me?"

"Of course, baby, I'll always forgive you and love you no matter what."

"No matter what, mommy."

"That's right, baby."

"Mommy, I love you…no matter what."

If I feel that way about you, how much more does the Father feel that way about you? How much more does He feel that way about me?

I wish I could bottle up the innocence I see in your eyes at this exact moment. It's not just a vulnerable innocence, but a confident, trusting, steady innocence. There is strength in that kind of innocence — pure and unadulterated.

"Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'" Matt. 19:14

I'm amazed at the insight and accidental wisdom of children. Just the other day, Ivey, you sang to everyone in line at the pharmacy, "Giiiiiiive your heart to Jesuuuuuus" over and over. I could have never quieted you down. Maybe there was someone who needed to hear that truth!

The other day you came running up to me, out of the blue, and said, "Mommy, 'While we were still sinners, Christ died for us!' He loves us, mommy!"

He does, baby. He does.

I recently read a blog post by a good friend of mine. She was talking about fear that often stems from our need for perceived control in our lives. I definitely struggle with fear. I struggle with control issues. I know I'm not alone in either. But, I truly believe God wants me to run to Him with the fire of conviction and belief in my eyes and say, "Father, you love me!"

Today, when we drove up to our house, you said this: "Mom, I love our house. God watches over our house; He keeps us safe! God sends angels to watch over us, mom."

"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety." Psalm 4:8

He does, baby. He does.

And he sends blue-eyed, spunky, fun-loving, brave, three year olds to remind their mommies of the truth we often forget.

He loves us…no matter what.
